Curious about the suitability of telehealth for your needs? Since 2021, our doctors have seamlessly integrated telehealth into patient consultations, providing a convenient, private, and location-flexible healthcare experience. Recognized and supported by both the government and Medicare, telehealth services are accessible across public and private sectors.

The process is user-friendly with no need for special software. Our secure system accommodates any device with a webcam, be it a desktop (PC or MAC), tablet (Android or iPad), or your smartphone. To optimize your telehealth experience, find a quiet, well-lit room for consultations. For privacy reasons, we recommend avoiding public areas and utilizing secure Wi-Fi. Embrace the ease and accessibility of telehealth for your healthcare needs.

To inquire about fees and rebates, you will receive a detailed list during the booking process for your initial appointment.

Telepsychiatry consultations are eligible for Medicare rebates. Typically, the clinician’s charges exceed the Medicare rebate, requiring you to cover the difference on the day of your appointment.

Please note that all fees must be paid in full prior to your appointment. For a comprehensive understanding of costs and reimbursements, the provided list will offer clarity during the booking stage.

Medicare now provides support for telehealth services, extending coverage to all Australians, regardless of their location, be it in a major city or rural areas.

To qualify for a rebate on telepsychiatry services, a referral letter from your GP is necessary. Typically, referrals from general practitioners to specialists are valid for 12 months from the specialist’s initial attendance, unless specified otherwise.

It’s important to note that private health insurance does not cover outpatient psychiatry consultations, and unfortunately, private insurance cannot be used concurrently with claiming a Medicare rebate.

Certainly! Our specialists collaborate closely with your GP to ensure the best outcome for you. To initiate the process, you should visit your GP and request a referral to consult with us.

For Medicare rebate eligibility, a referral is necessary. Without a referral, you would be required to cover the entire cost of the consultation.

We offer our patients the flexibility to attend appointments from any location, recognizing that life can become hectic, and unforeseen situations may make it challenging to keep scheduled appointments. In such instances, Jubi Clinic appreciates a 48-hour notice, allowing us to allocate your appointment to another patient.

Cancellations within 24 hours or a no-show will not be eligible for a refund. Our team is available to assist you in rescheduling your appointment to a more convenient time. In cases of late cancellations due to extreme circumstances, we assess each situation on a case-by-case basis.

Our team is dedicated to assisting you with your mental health needs. While we understand the urgency you may feel to see our specialist on the same day, unfortunately, we do not offer same-day consultations. All our appointments are pre-booked and planned.

If you wish, we can add you to a waiting list and promptly notify you if a spot becomes available due to a reschedule.

In case of distress, please reach out to Lifeline at 13 11 14 for 24-hour crisis support, visit the nearby Emergency Department of a hospital (ED), or call 000 for emergencies/ambulance services.

During your initial appointment, the psychiatrist may inquire about your current situation, delving into your mood, thoughts, and behavior. Expect questions such as:

  • What has been happening for you?
  • What are you concerned about?
  • When did the problem start?
  • Under what circumstances does it occur?
  • How long does it last?
  • Has it occurred before?
  • What makes it worse or better?
  • What do you hope to gain from treatment?

After the initial assessment, the psychiatrist will furnish you with information and recommend the most suitable treatment based on the type and severity of your mental health issues, your preferences where possible, and what has proven effective for you. Depending on your treatment plan, medication may be suggested.

During your initial appointment, we will discuss your treatment plan. The frequency of your appointments will be determined based on your individual needs. You may find that seeing a psychiatrist once or twice a year is sufficient, or you may require regular appointments for the ongoing management of your illness.

Your GP can refer you to a psychiatrist for either:

  • An ‘opinion and report’ (MBS item 291) – involving one assessment with a subsequent discharge back to the GP, along with a report and management plan. The GP then manages as the primary healthcare provider. A patient is eligible for only one Medicare rebate on the 291 in a 12-month period.
  • Ongoing management (MBS item 296) – where the patient becomes a regular patient of the psychiatrist.
  • Review (MBS item 293) – This allows the psychiatrist to review the previously prepared opinion and report within a 12-month period.

Obtaining your prescription is a straightforward process. If prescribed, your doctor may generate an electronic prescription, and you’ll receive a link via SMS or email of your choice. This allows you to conveniently take it directly to your local pharmacy.

Alternatively, we can follow the traditional route by emailing the prescription to your preferred pharmacy and sending the original copy by mail within 24 hours. Please note that the pharmacist holds the discretion to decide whether to supply the medication before receiving the paper prescription. Rest assured, we strive to make the process as seamless as possible for your convenience.
